THE INVOICE SAYS "EXCEL", THE RECEIPT SAYS "CLAYTON CAR SALES". WHEN YOU PHONE THEM THEY CLAIM TO HAVE "NEVER HEARD OF" CLAYTON AND HAVE "NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM." NOW THEY CLAIM TO BE CALLED "SCOOTERS GARAGE". SUSPICIOUS OR WHAT?
This is the story of how a used car dealer sold us a car that was in a dangerous condition, (the petrol tank could have exploded at any moment or the occupants of the car been poisoned by fumes), and spent the next six weeks ignoring their warranty promises and telling us bare-faced lies whilst we struggled around by bus taking our disabled daughter to hospital appointments. It cost us over £300 to have the car made safe and claim from this outfit through the County Court, while he thought up many dodges to try and avoid paying us. But.... WE WON! On 13th May 2008, in Dewsbury County Court, JUSTICE WAS DONE!
The owner - CHRIS CHRISTOFOROU - gave a statement under caution to the Trading Standards Department saying he owned the business, but told the Court it belonged to his common-law wife EILEEN HAYES. When the bailiff seized cars from his forecourt to pay us, he produced forged documents claiming the cars weren't his. The Judge saw through him and wiped the smirk off his face. There is not enough space here to tell the full story, so I have launched a website with the aim of stopping people buying cars from them.
Click this link to see the site:
The site tells our story in full, it also tells the story of another lady who was sold a car in such
a dangerous condition that it had to be written off.
The site also provides direct links to the Trading Standards Department and County Courts,
so you can start a claim against any cowboy who may have tried to rip you off.
It has taken us a year, but it paid off. If you have had dealings with this outfit, or know
anyone who has, please contact me.
And we have this message for "Cowboy" Chris Christoforou - you picked on the wrong guy this time.
