ALAN QUICK'S PAGE

Hello! I'm a 51-years-old proud Bradfordian currently driving buses for Arriva at their Dewsbury Garage. In 1972 I left school aged 16 with few qualifications and yet, fortuitously I was accepted into the Police cadets at 17 and I subsequently retired as a PC after 17+ years service. From 1993 until 2005, like Tony, I was an Approved Driving Instructor in the Dewsbury and Wakefield areas. The job I'm doing now is probably the one I should have been doing all along - I was obsessed with buses as a boy!! Anyway after 3 years on PCVs I'm very happy and my work colleagues are first class. For the past 9 years I've lived alone after a difficult period in my personal life. Despite this I love every single minute of every day and, after years of restlessness, I now have emotional and spiritual stability. My passions are steam locomotives/preserved railways, visiting Commonwealth War Cemeteries in Europe and classical music.

One of the photos shows my favourite class of steam loco, A4 Pacific 4498 Sir Nigel Gresley on the main line and passing through Batley Station in 1984. This photo is my best (just!) - I planned the shot for at least two weeks, getting the sun angle and light readings and composition worked out early so I could achieve a good result on the day. I'm really pleased with the outcome and I hope those of you viewing it agree! The other picture is of my greatest of all passions - my daughters. Taken in April 2007 the picture is of me with my eldest daughter Victoria on her wedding day with her husband Paul and my younger daughter Antonia - my favourite picture with my two girlies!
